When we say ‘TABLA’ means always to consider 2 instruments or 2 parts-
‘scale’ depends upon the performer, vocal or instrumental.
‘TABLA’ made with broad mouth match with lower notes/low scales.
‘TABLA’ made with narrow mouth match with higher notes/high scales.
Tabla is designed scalewise means tabla is made & available of every scale by tabla makers.
For example,if a performer wants to perform in a particular scale say e.g. scale kali 4 or G#, then tabla is selected of the same scale.
During performance, if performar changes his scale,or even otherwise required to change the scale, then accordingly the instrument ‘TABLA’(and not the ‘DAGGA’) is taken of the changed scale.
‘TABLA’ in all scales are available.
The other part i.e. ‘DAGGA’ or ‘BAYA’ has no scale.
So it remains the same in all scales.
It means, eventhough ‘tabla’ is changed,’DAGGA’ remains the same.
It is a must to all the instruments involved in any performance,to be in the ‘SAME SCALE’
This makes the performance ‘MELODIUS’.
‘TABLA’ changes scalewise whereas ‘DAGGA’ or ‘BAYA’ remains the same
‘TABLA’ requires to be tuned before it is being played either for ‘SOLO’ performance or as a ‘ACOMPANIMENT’,to the scale of which it is selected.
It requires, to be tuned in the selected scale, to any one of following ‘swar’
Sa Shadaj, (low pitch )
Ma Maddham,
Pa Pancham.
Sa Tar Shadaj.(high pitch )
